泌尿器科領域におけるペントレックス(Aminobenzyl penicillin)の臨床治験

Abstract

Pentrex is a new semisynthetic penicillin prepared from 6-aminopenicillanica cid. It has high activity in vitro similar to that of penicillin G against many Gram-positive bacteria and also against certain Gram-negative bacteria. Pentrex is highly bacteriocidal. Pentrex is not sta b le to penicillinase and therefore dose not affect against penicillinresistant staphylococci or other penicillinase producing organisms. A total of 40 patients with urinary tract infe c t ion were treated with Pentrex orally at a dosage of 250mg every 6 hours for 2 to 14 days. Clinical cure was achieved in 39 out of t he 40 patients. Twenty-eight patients with cystitis without associated pathology were cured with good effects especially. The toxic reactions in 40 patients treated were nausea and stomach fullness. Pentrex seems to be a safe and effective drug in urinary tract infect i ons, especially those associated with E. coli.
