Abstract

Secondary infections occur much more frequently after the urological surgery than after the general surgical operations, and the incidene of them after the urological surgery has been higher in the patients who had preoperative urinary tract infections than in the patients without. In 98 cases of secondary infections, 40 cases showed same bacteria and 29 cases showed different bacteria before and after the urological operations. In the 29 cases, coagulase positive Staphylococci and Proteus have been frequently found in the secondary infected wounds. From the results of comparative studies on the sensitivity test between the bacte r i a from preoperative infected urine and the post operative infected wounds, the former has been more resistant generally than the latter, although some of them showed very high resistance (100 mcg/ml or more) to the antibiotics.
