抄録: | The number of patients with urinary tract infections occupied about one third of the total number of out-patients seen in the Urology Clinic of Osaka Medical College for the past three years. Among them the lower urinary tract infections were most frequently encountered. About a half of these urinary tract infections was caused by E. coli and Staphylococci. Particularly the coagulase negative Staphylococci were much more frequently found in the urinary tract infections than in the other kind of infections. Drug sensitivity of the bacteria causin g urinary tract infections was very low, and they showed resistance to almost all available antibiotics including synthetic penicillin preparations except KM, CER and CET. More than one third of the bacteria isolated from infected urine were resistant to five antibiotics. As far as Staphylococci are concerned, they were isolated less frequently from the urinary tracts than from the other sources. However, the incidence of resistant strains to five antibiotics was 42.6 % in the former and much lower in the latter. From the results of phage typing, 82.4 % of coagulase positive Staphylococci cultured from the urinary tracts were nontypable strains. On the other hand, 36.1 % of them cultured from other organs were phage types 81, 88 (Group 1.). |
