尿路感染症に対するNalidixic Acidの臨床評価 (脊損患者の尿路感染症 第1報)

Abstract

A new drug nalidixic acid, bacteriostatic against Gram - negative organisms, has demonstrated its efficacy in the treatment of urinary tract infections at many clinical trials. So it was undertaken to evaluate the effectiveness of nalidixic acid in treating chronic urinary infections in paraplegics. Unexpected results were obtained which are summarized as follows. The greater parts of urinary pathogens resistant to many antibiotics were not a lways sensitive, rather resistant to nalidixic acid. The bacteriologic cure rate af t e r nalidixic acid treatment was inferior to those of usual antibiotics. In some cases the nalidixic acid administration exacerbated the urinary infections not only due to resistant pathogens, but also to sensitive. To understand such facts, it seems necessary to postulate its difficult absorption and/or its inactivation in vivo.
