Urocalunの上部尿路結石に対する排石効果の検討 (二重盲検法による同時対照実験)

Abstract

"Urocalun" is a new drug for urolithiasis, and its main ingredient is the extract from Quercus stenophylla Makino. Its effect on stone passage was investigated by means of control study using placebo in a double blind method. Cumulative percentage of the population who passed stone was significantly greater in the Urocalun group than in the placebo group at any time of the course of this study. It was, therefore, proved that Urocalun was useful in discharging upper urinary tract calculi. As to medication other than Urocalun or placebo, there was no difference between two groups. Also, no difference was observed on the population who were lost from the follow-up study. No side effect attributed to Urocalun was experienced. Clinico-pharmacological study in double blind method such as adopted in this report is worthy to be recommended, because this can eliminate the subjective judgment.
