抄録: Bacteriological investigacion was made on 3066 strains obtained from culture of urine from the patients with urinary tract infection seen at the department of Urology, Mie Prefectural University School of Medicine, from January 1961 to December 1970. 1) The strains consisted of E. coli 720, Staph. epiderm. 610, Staph. aureus. 579, Pseudomonas 427, Proteus 281, Klebsiella 250, Streptococcus 62 and others 137. 2) General tendency was that the cocci had decreased and gram-negative bacilli, especially E. coli and Klebsiella, had increased. 3) Drug sensitivity was as follows. E. coli was sensitive to gentamicin, colistin, kanamycin, Panfuran S, cephaloridine, aminobenzyl-penicillin in this order. It was resistant against penicillin or macrolides. Staphylococcus showed good sensitivity to all the drugs except colistin and sulfa. It was especially sensitive to gentamicin, cephalothin, Panfuran S, kanamycin, and aminobenzyl-penicillin. Pseudomonas was sensitive to gentamicin, colistin, polymyxin B, carbenicillin, Panfuran S and kanamycin. Klebsiella showed almost S3me pattern but less resistance as compared with Pseudomonas. Proteus was sensitive to gentamicin, Panfuran S, nalidixic acid, kanamycin, and aminobenzyl-penicillin. 4) Penicillin and macrolides are not sensitive in most of the cases of E. coli infections. Even in staphylococcic infections, there are many other antibiotics available. Therefore, these drugs may be omitted from the routine sensitivity test. 5) Chloromycetin, sulfa drug and streptomycin may be also omitted from the test. The reason for this is that chloromycetin is inadequate for urinary infection, streptomycin shows side reaction and induction of resistance and sulfas are often clinically effective despite negative sensitivity.
