dc.description.abstractThe TTC-test has been utilized for qualitative demonstration of a significant bacteriuria but not so widely because of its disadvantages such as a high threshold value to be positive and inavailability of quantitative expression. In view of these points, a standard curve was made from the number of bacteria and the amount of formazan produced by reduction of TTC. Formazan was extracted with ethyl acetate and determined colorimetrically at 480 mµ. In clinical cases, the bacterial counts by this standard curve correlated well with the counts determined by quantitative culture. The TTC test might be utilized as a quantitative evaluation of bacteriuria.en
