前立腺に対するprogesterone誘導体の影響

Abstract

We have for years carried out various studies on the metabolism of the human prostate. The effects of 17-a-hydroxyprogesterone caproate (Proluton) employed since 1967 and 17-a-hydroxy-19-norprogesterone caproate (SH-582) made available in 1969 were roentgenologically and histochemically examined on clinical cases of prostate hypertrophy. Additionally, animal experiments were performed also with these progestogens. 1) Roentgenological changes: Many cystourethrograms, when compared with the pretreatment findings, showed reduction of about 20 to 30% in tht' size examined by Thumann's weight conversion method. 2) The LAP activity was elevated and the oxidative enzyme activities were decreased in the group treated with the progestogens. 3) In the animal experiment, the progestogens produced the same estrogen activities as observed in the rats treated with estrogen and the orchidectomized animals.
