子宮頚癌治療後の排尿障害管理上の新しい問題点

Abstract

An investigation was made as to how micturition disturbance and urinary tract infection contributed to the fatal outcome of the patients who had had radical hysterectomy for carcinoma of the cervix. This survey included 86 patients alive who passed seven to twentythree years after operation and 118 patients dead consisting of 34 who lived more than five years and 84 who died within 5 years due to recurrence of tumor. A vicious cycle was clearly proved between urinary tract infection and micturition disturbance. This cycle was particularly dominant between pyelonephritis and hydronephrosis or vesicoureteral reflux. Renal failure might result from the vicious cycle, and it was estimated that about 10% of the deaths were caused by this process.
