dc.description.abstractIn order to obtain the basic data which may contribute to the prevention and treatment of infection occurring in the defunctionalized bladder, an investigation was attempted to confirm if the antimicrobial agents administered generally is transfered into the vesical cavity. 0.7 ml of normal saline was instilled into the bladder of the male rats after bilateral nephrectomy. The rats weighed 300 to 350 grams and their penis were ligated preoperatively. Kanamycin, cefazolin, aminobenzyl penicillin or oleandomycin was intramuscularly administered in the dosage of 40 mg/kg. Concentration of each antibiotic in the serum and the intravesical fluid was determined three and six hours after intramuscular injEction. The following table shows the results of this study.en
