抄録: | A comparative study on urolithiasis in Thailand with that in Japan was made. Clinical data of 1974 and 50 urinary stones were obtained from Chiang Mai University, located in the Northern district of Thailand. Clinical data of Japan was obtained from Kyoto Univ. Hospital for comparison. The results were as follows: 1) The frequency of the lower urinary stones was almost the same as that of the upper urinary stones in Thailand. 2) Bladder stone disease in children occurs commonly, especially in boys under 10 years old, which is not seen in Japan. 3) Most of the urinary stones in Thailand were removed either operatively or transurethrally (92%), whereas about one fifth of urolithiasis patients were operated on in Japan (19.0%). 4) The bladder stones in children were mainly composed of ammonium acid urate (73%) and/or calcium oxalate (47%), whereas most of the upper and lower urinary stones in adults were calcium oxalate. 5) These characteristics of urolithiasis in Thailand are very similar to that in Japan seen about 50 years ago. |
