前立腺横紋筋肉腫の1例

Abstract

A 26-year-old man, with the chief complaint of infertility visited our department on Nov. 18, 1978. Following overall examination, needle biopsy of the prostate gland was performed suspecting sarcoma. Histology of the prostate revealed no signs of malignancy. The patient stopped visiting our department since then. He was readmitted on April 4, 1980, under diagnosis of metastasis to the lung and spinal column from sarcoma of the prostate. Aggressive chemotherapy, consisting mainly of cisplatin and actinomycin-D was performed. Although for a very temporary period, metastatic lesion of the lung decreased in size remarkably. However, chemotherapy had to be discontinued due to its unfavorable side reactions. The patient expired after 4 months, inspite of vigorous chemotherapy, due to the advanced metastatic lesions.
