Abstract: 本報では、桜島火山における様式の異なる噴火で放出された火山灰の揮発性成分、特にフッ素と塩素の挙動について噴火活動との関係を検討した。不溶性塩素濃度は,BL型地震を伴う噴火で放出された火山灰が最も高く,爆発によって放出された火山灰との間に統計的に有意の差が認められる。これは,BL型地震の発生は塩素に富んだ新鮮なマグマの火口浅部への上昇によるもので,その群発から爆発に至る過程で塩素の脱ガスが起っていることを示している。
In this study, we determined the contents of F and Cl in the volcanic ash ejected by several types oferuptions of Sakurajima volcano and examined a relationship between the behavior of halogen and theeruptive activity. Statistical examinations reveal that the ash samples collected between 1975 and 2002are categorized into "BL-earthquakes " group and the others according to the contents of water-insolubleCl. This suggests that the swarm of BL-type earthquakes was attributed to ascension of fresh magmafrom the upper part of the conduit to the summit crater and that Cl is degassed between the "Blearthquake"stage and "explosion" stage.
