抄録: | Pan-sheng was originally built by Chinese in the closing days of the Ming (明) dynasty. In the beginning it played the role of exchange market, and later it became the site of horse market. The walled town grew under the indirect control of Altan Khan, and then as a result of the exchange of Chao Chuan (趙全) with Baghan Naki at the end of Liu-ch'ing (隆慶) it became involved under the direct rule of the Tatar khan, who made it as his base to extend his power over whole Mongolia. In the third year of Wan-li (萬曆) the Ming renamed it Kuei-hua-ch'eng, (歸化城) and the Tatar tribe with Altan Khan as its leader established themselves around this town. |
