<研究論文>副詞「いよいよ」を通して見た出来事成立に対する話し手の捉え方

Abstract

副詞「いよいよ」は焦点の局面への近づき・到達を描写する用法及び進行の度合い拡大を表す用法を有する。前者において出来事の成立が間近に迫っていること, あるいはついに成立したことを表現する。この成立はある過程の極限の局面として描かれ、描写の焦点がこの極限に置かれる。更に、焦点の局面として、現状から想定しうる極限の状態や予測が確定的となる段階が取り立てられる場合があり、これらも前者の下位用法として位置づけ可能である。一方、度合い拡大を表す場合、何らかの変化性のある事態・出来事を修飾し、その進行の度合い・程度、量、範囲などの拡大を表す。この場合も描写の焦点は進行過程の極限にあり、度合い拡大しながら、極限に向かって進行するものとして出来事が描かれる。従って、両用法は語源的な意味を保ちつつ、焦点を当てる進行過程の極限を通して連続するのである。本稿では、各用法の構文的特徴を明らかにしつつ、副詞が文に付加する<話し手の捉え方>について検討した。

One meaning of the Japanese adverb Iyoiyo, is that some event, at long last, is just about to be realized, or that it has just been realized. It could also express the escalating degree, amount, etc. of a changing state or an event. In the former case, Iyoiyo highlights the actualizing phase, expressing that the actualization has reached or is about to reach the extreme point of the actualizing structure. Due to this semantic property, generally Iyoiyo is syntactically restricted to sentences that have a predicate with an inceptive or terminating end point. In the later case, it depicts the magnification as one heading towards the extreme point of the magnification scale. Thereby, Iyoiyo's two meanings correlate, having the extreme point as their common semantic property. What Iyoiyo adds to the intrinsic temporal meaning of the sentence is the speaker's view of the actualization.
