抄録: | Most of the extant Uighur Agama fragments have been edited by Masahiro Shδgaito,Kδgi Kudara, Peter Zieme and Zhang Tieshan beginning from the 1980s. By my count, the number of published Uighur Agama texts is over 70 and the longest one, studied by Prof. Shδgaito, contains 373 lines. All of these texts have in common that they are translations of Chinese texts, but in an abbreviated manner. And a11 of them show a certain amount of interlinear glossing with Chinese characters. Recently 1 found an Uighur Agama text housed at the East Asian Lìbrary and the Gest Col1ecton, Princeton University, coded as Peald 6b Recto. We identified that text as belonging to the 2300 chapter of Madhyama Agama. The orthographical features and one of the Chinese characters used date the manuscript to the Yuan Mongol period. Thus, it possibly stems from the Northem Grottoes of Mogao Caves σka Dunhuang Caves and may have been found by the popular painter Zhang Daqian, who presented it as a gift to James and Lucy Lo while they were taking photographs of the Dunhuang caves in the early 1940s. In this paper, we provide a brief survey of published Agama texts and present a textual examination of the Peald 6b Recto. |
