唐代四川地域社會の變貌とその特質

Abstract

In the present study I show that though the Sichuan region fundamentally constituted an autonomous economic sphere in the Tang dynasty, the relations with the outside world both by river and by land grew stronger as time passed ; especially the relations with Central China by the waterways of the Yangzi River system made a great impact on the region. I study the processes whereby these outside influences were assimilated and their special features mainly from the point of view of the changes that occurred in the structure of military power in the region. I investigate the distinctive system of tuanjie-bing 團結兵 that was established in the Sichuan region in the Tang and the process of its breakdown, the special characteristics and the transformation of the tanding 壇丁 and zidi-bing 子弟兵 armies which were based on a society of partially Sinicized aboriginals, and the unique features of the structure of the military power of the regional government 藩鎭, which, its army consisting of mercenary soldiers, was premised on the settlement of a large number of vagrants in the interior of Sichuan and the existence of a commodity economy lead by the Sichuan local magnates.
