抄録: The purpose of this paper is to determine the period in which Shah Isma'il's chronicle, known by the title Ross Anonymous (because the title originally attached to the chronicles was missing), were produced. Since the end of the last century, this chronicle was thought to have been written during the era of Shah Tahmasb. As an historical record, it has come to be regarded as having an extremely high value. However, I think that the basis used by E. D. Ross and Ghulam Sarwar to determine the period in which this book was produced is vague, and therefore scope to reconsider the dating of this book exists. Up to now, this book has been dated by comparing its prose with that found in other works, the dating of which have been verified. However, it is difficult to date this book based solely on the above method. Therefore a method was adopted where all of the 232 verses which appear in this book were examined to see, firstly if they appeared in other books and secondly, whether the authors of these verses could be identified. The result was that this book was not, as had up till now been thought, produced in the Tahmasb era, but in fact dates from after 1620.
