トルコ語指示詞の文脈指示用法について : 文照応形としてのbu, oの用法

Abstract

In this paper, we show that there is a phenomenon of Turkish demonstratives which cannot be explained in terms of the notion of "controllable domain" (Balpinar, 2012), which is intended to determine the distribution of the text dependent use of bu and o, and argue that "whether the antecedent noun is used repeatedly or not" plays the most important role in the explanation of the phenomenon. We also point out that in addition to the distinction of text dependent use and non-text dependent use, a further distinction between anaphoric use and non-anaphoric use will be necessary in the text dependent use. Among others, the following points are argued in the text: (1) In the anaphoric use, bu and o are both used as sentence anaphor. (2) As sentence anaphor, o is used to refer to open sentence, while bu is used to refer to non-opensentence. (3) o not only works as sentence anaphor but also as NP anaphor. Finally, it is demonstrated that the property (3) follows from the property (2).
