<特集論文>名誉殺人--現代インドにおける女性への暴力

Abstract

名誉殺人とは、女性の不道徳な行為がその家族や帰属集団（家族、親族、村落、カースト、宗教集団など）にもたらす不名誉を取り除き、名誉回復の手段として行われる暴力（殺傷事件）である。不道徳な行為とは婚前の性関係、親が認めない婚姻関係（ただし、認めない理由はさまざまである）、そして妻の不貞などである。名誉殺人はその言葉から殺人を指すが、殺人未遂や拉致など、殺人以外の暴力も含めることができる。名誉殺人は、両親の権威によって象徴される伝統的な共同体、すなわち「名誉の共同体」の秩序を揺るがす若者にたいする処罰である。本稿の目的は、北インドにおける名誉殺人の実態と背景について考察することである。またサティー（寡婦殉死）との比較を通じて注目したいのは、名誉殺人をめぐる言説における、「野蛮」や「犠牲」という概念である。さらに「名誉の共同体」にたいする「哀しみの共同体」を対比させることで、あらたな分析枠組みを提示したい。

Honour killings refer to violence (bloodshed) as a means of removing the disgrace of a woman's immoral behavior which has brought dishonour to her family or community (her immediate family, relatives, village, caste, religious group, etc.) and restoring honour. Immoral behavior can range from premarital intercourse, to a marriage of which the parents do not approve (though reasons are varied), and to the wife's infidelity. As the name suggests, honour killings signify actual killings, but can also include murder attempts, abductions, and acts of violence other than those leading to death. They are a punishment specifically doled out to young people who rock the social order of traditional community symbolized by the parents' authority, that is, the "honour community." The purpose of this article is to investigate the reality and background of honour killings in North India. Through comparisons to suttee (sati, widow burning), we can also focus on the concepts of "savage" and "victim". Furthermore, contrasting the ideas of "honour community" with "grief community" will help to designate some new analytical framework.
