| dc.description.abstract | Three juvenile plants of Ipomoea pes-caprae (L.) Sweet (Convolvulaceae) were found, each on a different stretch of beach, at Shirahama, Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, between September and December, 2008. These are the first detailed records from this area of this perennial herb, which normally inhabits tropical and subtropical sandy beaches. For each plant, measurements are provided of the stem length (up to 60.0 cm), diameter of the uppermost part of root (up to 9.0 cm), maximal leaf length and width (up to 35.2 x 36.2 mm), and distance from basal stem to the high tide mark on the day observed (0.9 - 42 m). | en |
