建築用竹材産地の形成と確立 : 京都を例として

Abstract

京都での建築用竹材産地の形成・確立は, 戦後実現した。それは単に, 茶室や数寄屋建築あるいは庭園といった, 伝統的なものの存在や, 竹林の豊富な存在等といった条件が, 京都に備わっていたということによるのではない。それよりもむしろ, 次のようなメカニズムに注目すべきである。戦後, わが国の住宅建築需要が増大する中で, 人工銘竹を中心とした建築用竹材の需要も増加した。その過程で, 京都には, 銘竹生産業者・銘竹問屋をはじめとして製品加工業者が成立してくるが, 京都の産地は, 次の3つの段階を経てはじめて形成・確立されたということができる。 第1段階…産地の形成 : 銘竹問屋と銘竹生産業者の協調段階 第2段階…産地の再編 : 銘竹問屋による製品加工業者の育成段階 第3段階…産地の確立 : 三者の確立段階 そして, 銘竹生産業者・銘竹問屋・製品加工業者の3者が, それぞれの機能を積極的意欲的に発揮することによって, 生産・販売体制が完成されたところに京都の大きな特徴がある。

The bamboo producing center for building materials was formed in Kyoto after the World War II. The main factor of the formation did not only depend on the existence of Japanese traditional things in which bamboo had be used very often (such as tea-ceremony room, Sukiya architecture and classical garden), or the rich resource of bamboo in Kyoto. According as the demands of bamboo for building materials increased, many bamboo-wholesalers, bamboo-primary producers and bamboo-manufacturers were gradually born in Kyoto. And the bamboo producing center for building materials in Kyoto was formed and has been completed by the relation between the three parties through three steps. 1st step : The coorporation between the wholesalers and the primary producers formed the producing center. 2nd step : The producing center was reorganized by the wholesalers supporting the manufacturers. 3rd step : The producing center has been completed by the wholesalers, the primary producers and the manufacturers who brought into full play their function actually.
