パネルのイメージに及ぼす節の影響

Abstract

画像処理装置を用いて, 節の色, 材の色を種々に変え, また, 節のない場合, 異なる太さのグループを持つ場合のパネル画像を作製し, 節の持つ心理的イメージの本質の一端を明らかにすることを試みた。節のないパネルの方が節のあるパネルより「感じのよい」「上品な」「落ち着きのある」「すっきりした」イメージを与えるが, 節のあるパネルはより「自然な」「素朴な」イメージを与える。また一方, 節の色および材の色を種々の色調に変化させた場合, 実在するであろうと思われる「自然な」節の色および材の色を持つパネルの方が, より「落ち着きのある」「感じのよい」イメージを与えることがわかった。以上より, 節のある材は「自然な」イメージを生かすような使い方が賢明であることが示唆された。

To make clear the influence of knots on psychological images of panels, the colors of knots and panels were changed using an image data processing computer system, and questionnaires regarding the psychological images were distributed using the photos of the processed images. Results of the questionnaire are as follows: panels without knots have more "elegant", "agreeable", "calm" and "clear" images, and panels with knots have more "natural" and "primitive" images. "Natural" colored knots give more "agreeable" and "calm" images than any panels with artificially colored knots. The same effect was also observed on the base colors of panels. The above results suggest that panels with knots should be used to give a "natural" image or atmosphere. The automatic knot detection (form and position) method developed in this study suggests a possibility of automatic timber grading using image data processing.
