戦後における奈良県林材業の展開構造 :製材品の需要構造の変化を中心にして

Abstract

(1) 奈良県林材業は木材需要が拡大する1970年代半ばまでは全国でも抜きんでた発展をする一方, 需要が低迷する80年代以降は逆に全国水準を大きく下回る後退を示す。(2) この奈良県林材業の発展と後退を条件づけたのは国産材の役物に対する需要の動向であった。すなわち奈良県林材業は役物需要の増大に最もよく適合することで飛躍的発展を遂げ, その需要の縮小にともなって後退を余儀なくされた。(3) 奈良県林材業の発展を支えてきた需要条件が大きく変化し, 役物の市場が縮小しそれにともなって競争が激化しつつあるなかで, 奈良県林材業は競争激化への対応が進まないままいっそう役物に傾斜する傾向を強めている。

(1)Due to the rapidly increasing demand for timber, forestry and forest industry (saw industry) in Nara pref. had developed outstandingly until the mid-1970's. Since early 1980's, however, the demand for lumber has drastically decreased. Sawmill in Nara pref. were damaged by this demand change and began to decline. (2)Sawmill in Nara pref. primarily have produced high grade lumber. The change in the demand for the high grade lumber caused the development and decline of the sawmill. (3)The market for high grade lumber shrinked, so the competition among the sawmills producing such high grade lumber in Japan became very severe. In this situation sawmills in Nara pref. is still concentrating on the production of high grade lumber without any countermeasure for future.
