徳島県木頭地方における長伐期施業スギの成長と材質

Abstract

徳島県木頭林業地域で100年以上の長伐期施業がなされた6本のスギ試料の成長と材質の関係を明らかにした.樹幹解析の結果, 樹高成長率が樹齢70年以降において1%以下となり, 長伐期施業の一つの特色であると考えられた.軟X線デンシトメトリーによって測定された年輪幅, 平均密度, 晩材率は水平系列において成熟材部で漸減する傾向を示したが, 晩材率は横ばいの変動傾向を示した.光学顕微鏡によって観察された仮道管細胞の平均放射径と接線径はともに加齢と共に漸増傾向にあったが, 材積成長量の減少がみられた個体では平均放射径は横ばいの変動傾向を示した.平均密度が水平系列で減少する要因については, 接線径が水平系列において共通した傾向を示したことから, 木部母細胞の接線径自体が長伐期施業の間に増大することが一つの要因であることが示唆された.

Relationship between tree growth and wood properties of over 100 years old six Sugi (Cryptomeria japonica) trees planted in Kitou forestry region, Tokushima Prefecture, was investigated. In stem analysis, growth rates occurred in the following order. That is, height growth, diameter growth and volume growth. Mean wood densities decreased remarkably in the region from pith to about 20 years of cambial age, and showed gradual decrease until 100 years of cambial age. Late wood percentages decreased remarkably from pith to about 15 years in cambial age. Beyond this region, they showed rather constant values fluctuated between 20 to 40% until 100 years in cambial age. Tangential diameters of early wood tracheas gradually increased as the tree age progressed. This was considered to be one of the factors affecting the decrease of mean wood density following the aging.
