<依頼論文>道徳的想像力からみた環境倫理への展望

Abstract

本論文の目的は、環境倫理における想像力の役割を探り、その不可欠の次元として想像力を導入することである。道徳的想像力は、メタファーやプロトタイプ、物語、フレームといったさまざまな想像的資源をとおして倫理的な思考と行為の背景･文脈を提供することで、倫理の基本的な条件をなしている。自然や他種の生物、未来世代といった遠隔のものに対する私たちの行いの影響が問われる環境倫理の事柄は、倫理における想像力の不可欠の役割を如実にするものである。そのうえ、道徳的想像力は自然や自己、時間、行為やライフスタイルに関する私たちの基本的な枠組を問い直すことで、私たちの態度と行動を変容し、有意 義な環境実践を行うことを助ける。結論として、環境倫理の観点から道徳的想像力を培うう えでの、環境教育の重要性を示す。 The aim of this paper is to examine the role of imagination in environmental ethics further and introduce imaginative dimension as an essential part of environmental ethics. Moral imagination constitutes a basic condition for ethical thinking and action by providing their background and context through various imaginative resources: metaphors, prototypes, narratives, and frames. Matters of environmental ethics have revealed the indispensable role of imagination in ethics, because its chief concern is the remote effects of our action upon the ecosystem, other species, and future generations. Moreover, moral imagination enables us to reconsider our basic frameworks on nature, self, time, action, and lifestyle, to transform our attitudes and actions, and to promote more effective environmental practices. In conclusion, I suggest the importance of environmental education as cultivating ecological imagination from the standpoint of environmental ethics.
