Abstract

本研究はイロカノ語（オーストロネシア語族、西マラヨ・ポリネシア語派）におけるイデオフォンの言語学的特徴を捉えることを目的とする。類型論的な観点からイデオフォンの形式と意味の両方を記述し、当該範疇が一般語彙または他言語と比較してどのような共通性や差異を持つのかを分析する。イロカノ語のイデオフォンは形態的及び音韻的に有標な語根である。統語的には、イデオフォンは述部あるいは名詞句の主要部として実現し、他の品詞範疇と複数の特徴を共有している。その一方で、イデオフォンは他品詞とは異なる性質も持ち合わせる。これらの事実から、イデオフォンは他の品詞と部分的な共通点を持つ単独の範疇であると結論づける。また、イロカノ語のイデオフォンにおいては、通言語的に頻繁に指摘されている高い統語的独立性や表出性が観察されず、文法体系に高い度合いで統合されていることを示す。さらに本研究は、イデオフォンの機能的な側面に着目し、描写性や証拠性という点ついて議論する。This paper is a first attempt to survey ideophones in Ilocano, an Austronesian language of the Philippines. Ideophones are described as expressive marked linguistic units with a depictive function. Mainly based on field data, I describe and analyse the structure, meaning and function of Ilocano ideophones from a typological perspective. Although Ilocano ideophones show idiosyncratic phonological and morphological properties, they most often participate in sentential syntax as a nominal element or predicate, and the bulk of Ilocano ideophones may undergo morphological derivations characteristic of verbs. The study also shows that Ilocano ideophones rarely exhibit cross-linguistically recurrent expressive features, by which ideophones are set apart from the rest of the utterance as depictive words.This paper is a first attempt to survey ideophones in Ilocano, an Austronesian language of the Philippines.
