dc.description.abstractMany card games are described in Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice (1813). This paper focuses on those card games and reveals that Austen uses the games to explain the players' personalities. Furthermore, we interpret the card games as a metaphor for games of love between the players. According to this hypothesis, it can be said that Elizabeth changes her attitude toward card games based on her eagerness for love.en
