<論説>文中子考 : とくに東皐子を手がかりとして

Abstract

『論語』に模した文中子王通の『中説』にたいしては、その真偽をめぐって、従来さまざまの論評が加えられてきた。筆者は、王通の弟王績の『東皐子集』を手がかりとして、王通像の虚実をあきらかにし、また『中説』の真偽をさだめることにつとめた。『中説』が疑惑視される一つの、しかももっとも大きな理由は、唐初の名臣の多くが、王通の門人として『中説』に登場することである。しかし、陳叔達、温彦博、杜淹、魏徴たちは、門人とはよべないまでも、文中子学団と関係をもったと推定される。『中説』には、後人による仮託の部分のあることを否定しえないにせよ、このように『中説』にあらわされた王通像は、まったく放恣な作為の産物であるのではなく、少なからぬ真実がそこに反映されている、と考える。

About "Chung-shuo" 中説 by Wên-chung-tzu Wang-t'ung 文中子王通 imitated after "Lun-yü" 論語, there have been various comments around its credibility. This article, using as a clue "Tung-kao-tzu-chi" 東皐子集, the work by Wang-chi 王績, explains the credibility of Wang-t'ung's figure, and tries to decide upon the authenticity of "Chung-shuo ". One and the biggest reason for the doubtfulness of "Chung-shuo" is that many illustrious retainers at the beginning of T'ang 唐 appeared as followers of Wang-t'ung in "Chung-shuo". Though we cannot call them followers, such as Ch'ên-shu-ta 陳叔達, Wên-yen-po 温彦博, Tu-yen 杜淹 and Wei-chêng 魏徴, they presumably had some relation with the Wên-chung-tzu 文中子 clique. Though we cannot deny some pretext by the posterity should be found in "Chung-shuo". We may think that the image of Wang-t'ung in "Chung-shuo" should not be a quite unprinicipled and artificial product but a reflection without a little truth.
