<論説>飛鳥と方格地割

Abstract

私はさきに行なわれた藤原宮宮域検出のための緊急調査に関係して、藤原京の京城およびその条坊制についての私見を発表したが、その際右と密接に関連する方格地割がいわゆる飛鳥の地域にも存在するらしいことに気付いていた。本稿は飛鳥保存の問題にも資するため、その詳細を報告するもので、まず一町＝一〇六ｍの方格地割に飛鳥寺・川原寺・橘寺・豊浦寺などの寺院や、あるいは亀石・酒船石・弥勒石などの石造遺物が正しく規制されていることを示し、ついでその方格地割と藤原京条坊制との関係を論じ、またその性格を追究するために、当時の「飛鳥」の地域の考定、倭京の範囲などについても考察した。

We have already supposed that the boundary of Fujiwara-kyo 藤原京 was fixed by the old roads in Yamato 大和, Yoko-ōji 横大路, Nakatsumichi 中ツ道 and Shimotsu-michi 下ツ道, as the northern, eastern and western limits, with the Jōbo 条坊 system, twelve Jō 条 and eight bō 坊, in the area of four ri 里 from east to west and six ri from south to north (1 ri=106 metres). The Hōkaku-chiwari 方格地割 in close relation with the above-mentioned allotment of land was supposed to exist in the so-called Asuka 飛鳥 area judging from the arrangement of temples such as Asuka-Dera 飛鳥寺, Kawahara-Dera 川原寺, and Tachibana-Dera 橘寺, or of stone buildings peculiar to Asuka. In this article we will explain the charcter of Hōkaku-chiwari, with the many-sided examination of its relation with Wa-kyō 倭京 and the Asuka's sphere.
