<論説>奈良平安期の村落形態について

Abstract

律令期前後の村落に言及する時、村落の起源のみを考察して事足れりとし、村落形態については現景観をそのまま溯及させて想定するといったように、景観が固定的に把握されている場合が多かった。しかし、両者は必ずしも一致するものではない。本稿ではまず、村落を構成する重要な景観要素である住居などの建築物をとりあげて、可能な限り具体的事例の追求につとめた。その結果判明した諸事実は、奈良・平安期の村落に関する従来の通念にかなりの修正をせまるもののように考えられる。

In describing to the Japanese villages before and after the Ritsuryo regime one has been satisfied with the studies on the origins of the villages without any reference to the vicissitude of their landscape. The village landscape was also transformed in this long span of time. In this paper I aimed to reconstruct the ancient villages with their surroundings as far as possible picking up such inhabitancies as their landscape elements. The result will throw some light, I hope a modificatory light, on the real village conditions during Nara and Heian periods of our history.
