<論説>台地上に位置する庄園村落の歴史地理学的考察 : 庄園絵図を史料として

Abstract

本稿は畿内南縁の中世庄園の開発状況と集落を扱かったものである。事例に取りあげたのは和泉国日根野庄、紀伊国井上本庄、同桛田庄である。絵図に描かれた農耕地の分布する地域の水利灌漑組織を考慮すると次の事実が知られる。すなわち、溜池によって台地上の耕地を灌漑している。更に自然河川から引いた用水路によっても灌漑し、溜池と相補って灌漑していた。近世の大規模な水利工事が行なわれたのちも依然として用水が不足していたこれらの庄園は、中世では耕地が狭少で非耕地(荒地) を村内に多く含んでいた。従って生活の基礎を農業に頼っていた集落は小規模で数も少ない。そして近世の藩政村の原形は桛田庄以外は既に見えているが、集落形態については今後の課題としなければならなかった。

This is the report of the investigation on the cultivations and the forms of the manor settlements in the middle ages through field-survey. These manors chosen as examples, Hinenomura 日根野村 in Izumi 和泉 (1316), Inouehonjo 井上本庄 in Kii 紀伊 (1393) and Kasedanosho 桛田庄 in Kii 紀伊 (1183) were located on the plateau in the southern part of Kinki district. Considering the system of the irrigation which was drawn in the old map, we will know such a fact that the cultivated lands on the plateau were irrigated not only by the pond but also by the conduit that was led from the river to the river terrace. These manors, however, hadn't complete equipments to get water, so there remained many waste lands without being improved into the arable lands in the middle ages. The manor villages as these, therefore, which lived upon the agriculture, were small in scale and few in number. And we can find the original pattern of the modern village in the Bakuhan-Regime 幕藩体制 in them except Kasedanosho.
