<論説>奈良時代の流通経済

Abstract

これまでの奈良時代の流通経済に関する研究は、その構造的特質の確定という基礎的作業を怠っていたため、その本質の把握が十分ではなかった。本稿は従来の研究の基礎を定める意味でこの点についての見通しをうることを目的としている。まず中央では、官市＝政治的市である東西市を中心にその延長部分が主要交通路によって結合し、中央交易圏を形成し、諸司官人家の財政もこのような流通経済構造に対応して営まれていた。これに対して各地方では、各地にあった地方市とは別に、国府経済と密接に関係する国府市が存在し、これを中心としてその延長部分が結合して国府交易圏を形成していた。国府経済は国府交易圏を前提にして運営された。国府交易圏と中央交易圏は、律令制的収取に規定されて相互に補完しつつ連関し、奈良時代の全国的流通体系を形づくっていた。

The precedent studies on the economic circulation of the Nara Period, neglecting the fundamental work of defining its systematical characteristics, have not completely grasped its essential qualities. This article aims at giving a general outline of this subject. First of all, in the central district, the Tōzai-ichi 東西市 which was pivotal as an official and political market, and its extended parts were combined by the main streets and formed the central market sphere 中央交易圏. The finances of the nobles and the officials 諸司官人家 were kept on such a circulating economic system. On the other hand, in the local districts, besides the local markets, the Kokufu-ichi 国府市 which was closely connected with the Kokufu-economy 国府経済, and its extended parts were combined and formed the Kokufu market sphere 国府交易圏. The Kokufu-economy was operated on the basis of this Kokufu market sphere. The central market sphere and the Kokufu market sphere were conditioned by the economy of the Ritsuryo-Regime 律令制 and complemented each other and formed the national circulating system of the Nara Period.
