<論説>一〇世紀における庄園の形成と展開 : 東大寺領板蠅杣を中心に

Abstract

本稿は、素材を東大寺領板蠅杣の出作地焼原杣にとり、不輸・不入制成立の観点から、中世庄園の形成過程を分析することを目的とする。一〇世紀中期以後、東大寺は不法に原野を分割して作りあげた焼原杣において、名張郡の農民のはげしい抵抗を排除しながら、開発権・上毛利用権の独占による原野の排他的支配権(「別名」の権利) を獲得し、また正税免除を媒介にして原野内部の墾田の不輸租権を獲得することで、焼原杣の一円所領化をおしすすめていく。さらに、このようにして形成されつつある一円所領内部へ直属労働力を確保すること、およびこの直属労働力を媒介にして共同体規制を支配論理のなかにくりこむこと、などが志向され、所領の内部支配の強化が計られていく。以上の過程のなかで、東大寺の焼原杣に対する支配は強化されていくのであり、一一世紀中期の長元年間にはほぼ完成をみる。ここに焼原杣は中世庄園である黒田本庄に転化する。

In this article I would like to clarify the making process of the medieval manors by examining the case of Yakihara estate 焼原杣 which belonged to the Itabae manor of Todai-ji temple. I would pay special attention to the economic and legal immunity of the manor. Todai-ji temple formed Yakihara estate by marking off the field unlawfully in the middle of the 10 th. century, and since then Todai-ji temple, insisting on its cultivating right to the estate, had got the exclusive right to control the wasteland. Fierce resistance of the peasants in Nabari 名張 county was removed and Todai-ji temple turned Yakihara estate into its perfect property. Making use of the exemption from shōzei 正税 main tax, it got the complete economic and financial burdens which had been imposed upon the peasants. In order to intensify the manor control Todai-ji temple gathered the dependent farmers and made use of the rural community. In this way Todai-ji temple intensified the control over Yakihara estate, which had completed in Chogen 長元 era, in the middle of the 11th. century. Yakihara estate turned into Kuroda main manor 黒田本庄, which is a typical medieval manor.
