<論説>縄文時代中期における集落の空間構成と集団の諸関係

Abstract

今日の縄文時代集落論の課題として、(一) 集団がどのような諸関係を持ち、どのようにしてこの諸関係が一定の関係(構造) として統合されているのか<社会組織の問題>、(二) 諸関係および構造の地域性、時代性を把握するためには、どのような比較作業が可能か<社会組織比較の問題>、この二点があげられる。したがって、まず解決されなければならない問題は、集団諸関係の考古学資料における所在である。本稿では、集落空間の分割と分割構造に集団諸関係と構造の所在をみいだし、縄文時代中期の三集落遺跡を分析した。その結果、一集落空間には少なくとも三種の分割軸が存在し、それに対応して三種の関係が想定された。これらの諸関係は、 「分割と結合」の側面において一つの構造を持つ。この構造は、各地域、各時代の集落遺跡から抽出された集団諸関係の比較尺度となるものである。

There are two themes at present in the study of settlement-sites in Jomon period. One is a problem of social organization, that is what sorts of relations are among the groups of people and how these relations are united as a structure. The other is a problem of comparison of the social organizations, that is how one can compare the relations or structures in order to determine their localities and eras. Therefore, marks of the relations must be identified in archaeological materials before anything. In this article, the author analyzes three settlement-sites in the middle of the period, assuming that the structures of division of the inhabited space would indicate the relations and their structures. Thus it is concluded that there exist at least three sorts of dividing axes, to which three sorts of relations may correspond. The structure which is abstracted from the aspects of 'division and unity' of the relations will be an effective standard when one compares the relations of groups in the sites of different areas and periods.
