<論説>鳥取藩における宗主権の確立

Abstract

幕藩体制確立期における藩主権力の確立は、江戸時代初期の問題として極めて重要である。したがって、藩主権力の確立を示す藩主親政の実態ならびに藩機構の整備を江戸時代初期の時点において具体的に分析することが必要である。本論文は鳥取藩池田家の藩祖池田光仲の藩主権力確立過程を分析することによって、右の諸事情を把握せんとしたものである。すなわち、幼年にして藩主の座についた池田光仲が、その成長過程において生じた家老勢力との対抗とその抑圧とを、彼の幕府権力の利用、池田家一門の設定などの諸施策を通じて分析し、つぎに、家臣団の格式固定、藩機構の整備を通じて藩主権力の固定をはかったこと、さらに、宗藩権力の維持と固定を目的として支藩設置をもくろんだことなどを分析した。そして最後に、池田光仲の黄檗宗への改派事件を通じて、彼の権威主義の実態を紹介した。

Among the various historical topics of the early Edo 江戸 era, the institution of feudal lordship is very important in relation to the establishment of Bakuhan Taisei 幕藩体制. Indispensable work, therefore, is the elaborate investigation into the actual conditions of feudal lordship which culminated in the personal rule of the lord himself, and of the readjustment of office administration. The process of establishment in which Mitsunaka Ikeda 池田光仲, the founder of the Ikeda family 池田家, set up his lordship in Tottori Han will present a good example. Mitsunaka, having succeeded to the office of lord in his minority, had to engage in the conflict with his major subjects and, as he grew, he managed to win the conflict through various policies such as the use of the authority of central government Bakufu 幕府, or setting up the exclusive seignorial family of Ikeda. Then he fixed firmly the social status of his subjects and rearranged the administrative system to stabilize the authority of the lordship. Moreover he planed to set up a branch of Han 藩 in order to maintain the supremacy of the head Han. Finally his inclination to authority seems to be in its culmination in his conversion to Obaku 黄檗 sect.
