<論説>同善会小史 : 中国社会福祉史上における明末清初の位置づけのために

Abstract

同善会は、明末に生れ、すくなくとも清末まで続いた代表的な善会(社会福祉団体) である。にもかかわらず、これまで同善会が正面からとりあげられることはなかった。本稿は、中国社会福祉史上における明末清初の位置を明らかにするため、まず同善会をとりあげるものである。同善会はすくなくとも二百五十年にわたる歴史を有し、生生の思想とでも呼ぶべき思想をもつ人々(揚東明、高攀龍、陳龍正ら) によって創設された。当初、名士の親睦会でもあったが、隆盛期には、教化を兼ねる福祉団体となった。それは県単位、鎮単位で都市を中心として実施され、また、家族、義荘、社倉を順次に含みこむ最大の同心円に位置するものとして、構想された。その運営には、一人の慈善家ではなく、多数の会員を必要とした。清代になると、都市に多数の善堂(福祉施設) が開設されるが、その管理運営のためには、善会の成立をその前提として必要としたのではないかと考えられる。

Tongshanhui is a typical shanhui 善会, a sort of a society for social welfare, which was founded in the last years of Ming and lasted at least to the end of Qing. But there has been no study on the subject of Tongshanhui. In this article, we take it up to clarify the significance of the late Ming and early Qing period in the history of the Chinese social welfare. Tongshanhui lasted at least for 250 years, and pursued manifold activities. Founded by those who had, so to speak, the thought of Sheng-Sheng 生生, such as Yang Dong-ming 楊東明, Gao Pan-long 高攀龍 and Chen Long-zheng 陳龍正, it was also engaged in edification in its golden age. It worked taking county 県 or market town 鎮 as the sphere of activities and its center was a city. Moreover, it was concentric with families 家族, yizhuang 義荘 (clan charitable estate) and shecang 社倉 (communal granary), and was the greatest of them. Its management needed not a single charitable person but a lot of members of the society. So, it may be said that the foundation of shanhui was a precondition for the direction of many shantang 善堂 (institutions for social welfare) in the cities during Qing.
