<論説>中世末期低地地方における穀物取引

Abstract

中世末期ヨーロッパの経済変容に深くかかわる経済現象の一つに東欧・西欧間の穀物取引がある。この取引のうち、輸入地域である西欧に関しては、東欧穀物の市場上の位躍を含めて不明点も多い。そこで、本稿では、当時有数の穀物輸入地域である低地地方について、関税史料、価格史料をもとに分析を行なった。価格史料の分析には、低地地方、北フランス各都市の価格の時系列に対する相関分析等の手法を用いた。このような本稿の分析によって、中世末期には低地地方の各都市が価格の上で強い相関関係を保ちながら、扱う穀物に特色を持つ取引ルートを並存させていること、一五世紀前半に低地地方、北フランスにおいて価格と収穫の関係に変化が生じること、一五世紀末には少なくともオート麦に関してアントワープの支配力が強くなることを明らかにした。

The corn trade from eastern Europe to western Europe is one of the economic phenomena concerned with the economical change in the late middle ages. But in the corn trade of western Europe, there are many unknown things. So I studied the corn trade of the Low Countries which was one of the most important areas for the import of corn. I analized this with tariff and price documents. For price documents, I used statistic methods, for example, correlation of series of price. The area which I studied is the southern Low Countries and north France. With these analyses, I indicated that cities of the Low Counrties had stronge correlations among each others, that there were some routes of corn trade in the Low Countries, that the relation between price and harvest changed in the first half of the 15th century, and that the role of Antwerp in the trade of oats was more important.
