<論説>中世ブラーバントにおける系譜的歴史記述と民族意識

Abstract

中世後期から近世にかけて、ブラーバントでは公家系の系譜を軸とした歴史記述が書き継がれてゆくが、一三世紀後半にこの伝統がどのような契機のもとで創りだされたのかは、これまでさほど明確に説明されてはいない。本稿は、まず公位継承をめぐる当時の政治的内乱と系譜的歴史記述の出現をテクスト分析から関連づけることで、それを説明しようとするものである。さらにすすんで、この系譜的歴史記述の発展が、一三世紀後半から一四世紀初頭のブラーバントに出現したとされる民族意識と深い繋がりを有していたことも明らかにしょうと努める。こうして、系譜的歴史記述が、前近代的な民族意識の形成に重要な出自と歴史を共有するという信念の要となっていたことが中世ブラーバントにおいて確認されるだろう。また、より広く前近代ベルギー地域における歴史記述の発展にかんする一側面も、こうした作業によって明らかになるだろう。

Many historiographies based on the 'genealogy' of the duke's family of Brabant were produced from the later Middle Ages to the early modern age. However, few historians could explain why this tradition was made during the later 13th century. I try to find by text analysis, a concrete and close connection between the civil war for the succession of the duchy at that time and the appearance of some genealogical historiographies. And then, how the development of these historiographies was deeply connected with feelings of national consciousness which appeared in later 13th century Brabant will be revealed. Historiographies were a keystone of the belief that people had a common lineage and history and were essential to building national consciousness in pre-industrial age Brabant. And finally, we will confirm a facet of the development of historiographies in the region of Belgium up to the pre-industrial age from this analysis.
