| dc.description.abstract | We give how to read kenshō-umu (in literal, test for existence of roots) in Kaihō honhen no Hō (Methods of Equation Modifications) re-revised by Seki Takakazu in 1685. We show that kenshō-umu is the first step of tai sū (replacement of a coefficient). By replacing tekijin kikyū hō (method of vanishing a polynomial and its certain derivative) with tekijin hōkyū hō (method of vanishing a polynomial and its derivative), kenshō-umu becomes to be a correct preprocess of tai sū. | en |
