<論説>山城の条里と平安京

Abstract

平安京の立地を条里の側から明かにせんと企画した。すなわち、これまで不明であった愛宕、紀伊両郡の条里を復原したところ、この両郡の郡界線は山城盆地北部の中央を東西に通る線で平安京はこの線を基準としてその南京極をえらんだものとおもわれる。又葛野、愛宕両郡界はこの盆地の中央を南北に縦断する線で、平安京朱雀大路はこの線を基準としたものと考えられる。

This essay intends to investigate the city plan of Heiankyo (平安京) on the basis of Jori (条里). The reproduction of Jori of both Otagi-gun (愛宕郡) and Kii-gun (紀伊郡) has shown that the border line between them was running east to west across the midst of the northern part of Yamashiro Basin. This line seems to have become the southern extremity of Heiankyo. The border line between Kadono-gun (葛野郡) and Otagi-gun was running from north to south amid of the Basin. This one seems to have been adopted later as Suzaku-oji (朱雀大路) of Heiankyo.
