<論説>百年戦争とフランス民族の形成 (上) : ノルマンディにおける支配と抵抗をめぐって

Abstract

一般に百年戦争の時代はフランス民族の形成期と考えられ、ことにその末期イギリス占領地域に展開された民衆の抵抗運動は「民族的抵抗」として把えられている。ここではとくにノルマンディにおける民衆の抵抗の種々相をできるだけ具体的にとりあげて、それが文字通り「民族的」であったか否かをイギリスの占領政策の実状から考察し、さらにそれがこの時代のフランス民族ないし民族意識のあり方(その成熟度、その王権との関係)とどのように関係するのかという問題を究明しようとした。

It is taken for granted that the period of Hundred Years' War coincides with that of the making of French nation, and that the popular resistance under the English occupation is "national resistance." The author here, analyzing the resistant movements among the common people and the policy of English occupations in Normandy, intends to discuss whether these movements are really "national ones" and, further, to discuss in what relations these movements are with the growing French nationalism, including the problem of the stages of the development of the nationalism and its connection with the royal family.
