<論説>フリードリッヒ・ナウマンとその時代 : ワイマール・デモクラシー成立前史

Abstract

第一次世界大戦の敗北によつて、帝政の崩壊したあとのドイツに生まれたものは、所謂ワイマール・デモクラシーであつた。このワイマール・デモクラシーは、果して敗戦によつて突如として生まれたものだつたであろうか。若しそうではないとすれば、その前史は、ウィルヘルムニ世時代に見出されなければならない。ここでは、当時の政治家フリードリッヒ・ナウマンによつてなされたデモクラシーの主張が、どのような性格をもち、そしてどのような背景の下に成立したかを検討することによつて、ワイマール・デモクラシー成立前史への理解を深めたいと考える。

In "Die lmprovisierte Demokratie der Weimarer Republik", Professor Theoder Eschenburg asserts that the Weimar democracy was thoroghly an improvised one and had no root in the preceding age of Wilhelm II. But I think that its very root can be found in Friedrich Naumann's advocacy of a coalition "From Bassermann to Bebel", and that this advocacy became clear when his former advocacy of "soziales Kaisertum" suffered a set-back in the "Daily-Telegraph-affair." Hear I want to trace the formation of this advocacy in Naumann's texts and its background. I hope thereby to bring to light a side of the prelude to the Weimar democracy.
