<論説>幕末・明治初年における農民層分解と地主制

Abstract

わが国において資本主義が確立した時期は一般に明治後期 (一八九〇～一九一〇) であると考えられている。それではその前段階たる幕末・明治前期において資本主義の形成はどのように進行していたであろうか。またわが国においては資本主義社会になつた後も農業においては半封建的土地所有たる寄生地主制が強固に存続したのであるが、それでは資本主義形成期たる幕末・明治前期に資本主義の発展と寄生地主制の形成とがどのように関連しつつ進行するのであろうか。こうした問題についてはすでに数多くのすぐれた研究があるが、なお問題の究明は不十分であるといわねばならない。本稿はこうした問題をもつとも基礎酌な経済過程たる農民経営の発展を中心にしてみてみようとするものである。

The period when capitalism was established in Japan is generally thought to be in the latter period of Meiji (1890-1910). Then, how was the formation of the Japanese capitalism proceeding at the end of the Shogunate or in the former period of Meiji? After the establishment of capitalism in Japan the parasitic landlord system still remained semifeudalistic land-holding in agriculture; and how was the formation of capitalism proceeding in connection with that of the parasitic landlord system at the end of the Shogunate or in the former period of Meiji as a period of the rising capitalism? To study this problem, this article centered on the development of farmer's management, the most fundamental economic process, though many excellent studies on this subject have already published.
