<論説>ブルターニュにおける散居集落の構造 : レンヌ近郊パッセ村を中心として

Abstract

西部フランスに典型的な散居集落については、従来あまりにも居住単位の分散および牧場経営の面のみが強調されて来たが、これは改めて考え直す必要がある。筆者が昨夏行つた実態調査によれば、エカールでの生活は、小さいシェフリューにおける集中の存在なくして可能ではなく、また農業経営の点では、意外にも甚だ多角的であることが明らかにされた。穀物栽培＝開放耕地＝集村、牧場経営＝囲い地＝散村の如く、集落と営農との形態的対応関係は、研究の方向としてはやはりその正当さを失わないが、これを文字通り一対一的と解釈すべきではない。ここブルターニュでは、散居農場＝小村＝ブールの構造が、敬居農場＝ブールの構造に変容しつつあり、また土地利用の上では、雑穀栽培を中心とする三圃制が、パン用小麦と飼料作物を主にする多圃制に変化し、果樹栽培がそれを補うことになつた。このような集落および営農の進化は、ボカージュ景観の発達をもたらしたが、これがかえつて現在の農村の発展を阻害しているとみられる面もある。

It may be important to reexamine the fact that dispersion of resident units and management of ranches have ever been over-emphasized in the dispersed settlements typically in the western France. According to our fact-finding last summer, the life in écard is impossible without the existence of concentration in small chef-lieu, and agricultural management is found unexpectedly to be many-sided. The formal corresponding relation in 'corn-raising--open-field--concentrated settlements' with 'ranch-management--enclosure--dispersed settlements', or between settlement and management, should be urged in justification of our researching direction, but this cannot be of full correspondence. Here in Bretagne the structure of 'dispersed farms--small villages--bourg' is changing into that of 'dispersed farms--bourg' and in use of farm land the three fields system mainly of cereals changes into the many fields system mainly of wheat for bread and fodder-crop with fruit-trees growing. Such evolution of settlements and agricultural management has brought the development of bocage landscape but in contrary has partly interrupted the development of the present-day rural villages.
