<研究ノート>トルファン発見田土文書の性質について : 『敦煌吐魯番社会経済資料』 (上) を読む

Abstract

大正の初年、大谷探険隊がトルファンで発見将来した田土関係文書が此度、西域文化研究会の手で整理研究され、『西域文化研究第二―敦煌吐番社会経済史料』 (上) の中で公表された。西嶋定生、西村元佑氏の論文がそれであるが、私はこの田土文書が果して両氏が言われるような均田文書であるかに疑問を抱く。私は先ずこの中の常田、部田、部田三易なる文字を考証し、それが夫々一年一耕、二年一耕、三年一耕の土地であろうと推測した。次にこの文書の示す一丁当り給田額は、常田五畝、部田十畝、計十五畝、若しくは常田五畝、部田三易十五畝、計二十畝で、何れも常田十畝分であろうと推量し、この給田は均田法によるものでなく、屯田法によるものであろうとの結論に到達した。恐らく八世紀中葉のトルファンでは均田法から屯田制への切換えが進行していたと思われる。

The documents on land, discovered and brought by the Ôtani 大谷 exploration party in Turfan in the early years of Taishô, have now been investigated and arranged by the monographs of Mr. Sadao Nishijima 西嶋定生 and Genyû Nishimura 西村元佑, published in 'Introduction and Monographical Remarks on Social and Economical System in the T'ang Era based upon Chinse Fragmentary Manuscripts from Tunhuang and Turfan'. I wonder if these documents were the chün-t'ien 均田 documents, as they insisted. At first by researching the words, ch'ang-t'ien 常田, pu-t'ien 部田 and pu-t'ien san-i 部田三易, in the documents, I supposed each should mean land of a crop for a year, two years and three years; and then the land delivery amount per ting 丁 in these documents should be 5 mou 畝 of ch'angt'ien and 10 mou of pu-t'ien amount to 15 mou or 5 mou of ch'ang-t'ien and 15 mou of pu-t'ien san-i, amount to 20 mou, 10 mou of ch'ang-t'ien in each case. I came to this conclusion that this delivery was based on t'un-t'ien 屯田 system, not on chün-t'ien system. Perhaps the transition from chün-t'ien system to t'un-t'ien system was in progress in Turfan in the middle of the eighth century.
