<論説>遠隔地荘園の支配構造 : 鎮西島津荘における領家支配の変遷

Abstract

荘園制の歴史的性格を把握するには、それが荘園領主の土地所有体制である以上、荘園領主による荘園経営のあり方を系統的に追及することが必要である。本稿は従来そのよ うな観点からする研究を殆んど欠いていた思われる遠隔地荘園について、摂関家領鎮西島津荘を素材に考察したものである。その領家支配のあり方とその変遷、及びその存続の諸条件を明らかにすることを主目的とし、併せて従来考えて来た在地領主制のあり方についても、権力の問題を含みこんでより全体的に把握するための一つの基礎作業たらしめることを意図した。その結果、荘園機構が荘政所体制→預所体制→給主体制と移行し、荘政所体制は摂関家の所務に、預所体制・給主体制は一乗院の所務に対応すること、鎌倉末の預所体制から給主体制への移行によって、荘園支配は決定的に在地から浮き上り、その所務は在地領主の請負いとなること、それにも拘らず荘園支配が存続しえたのは、惣地頭と小地頭を御家人として併存せしめるような鎌倉幕府法的秩序によ点が大きかったこと等を指摘した。

To grasp the historical character of the manorial system, as it the landholding system of a manorial lord, it is required for us to study the manor management by lord in a systematic way. This article tries to research a distant manor which has been lack of studies from this point of view, using the Shimazu 島津 manor in the Sekkanke 摂関家 territory; especially to grasp the type in transition of lord government and to explain the conditions of its maintenance, as well as to do our basic work for complete understanding of that resident lord system from the viewpoint of power construction as a whole which has ever been discussed. As a result of our imcomplete reasoning the following points will be cleared up. The manorial system passed to the Shômandokoro 荘政所 system, to the Azukaridokoro 預所 system and then to the Kyûshu 給主 system. The Shômandokoro system corresponds to administration of the Sekkanke and the Azukaridokoro system or the Kyûshu system to administration of the Ichijôin 一乗院. By the transition of the Azukaridokoro system since the Kamakura era to the Kyûshu system, manorial control was free from residence and its administration was underaken by resident lords, although manorial control could be maintained mainly by the Kamakura shogunate order which paralleled Sôjitô 惣地頭 and Shôjitô 小地頭 as a Gokenin 御家人.
