<研究ノート>沖繩久高島の土地制度

Abstract

沖縄群島の久高島 (約二平方粁、人口六三〇) には、今なお、極めて古いと考えられる土地制度が残存している。耕地 (田は無く、畑のみ) の九四％は島民の共有地であり、それらは、i一〇の「組」に配属され、さらにそれぞれ一五等分される。これを「一地」といい、 「一地」の平均面積は二反弱である。太平洋戦前には、一六歳から六○歳までの男子に「一地」づつ給されたが、戦後は家毎に「一地」 (家族の多い家は「一地半」または「二地」給されている。各組に所属する畑は、島内各処に分散し、平均一九・四筆から成り、、一筆毎に一五等分される。従って畑は、極めて狭小な地条をなしている。組のメンバーは集落の一ケ所にまとまって居住しているのではなく、また「二地」の家は、二つの組にまたがって所属するのであり、組にはあまり大きな社会的機能が認められない。畑の作物は、夏作甘藷、冬作小麦が主である。農耕は専ら女の仕事であり、男は漁業に従事している。

There remains a very old landholding system in the island of Kudaka 久高 (land area about 2 sq. km., pop. about 630), where 94 % of the cultivated land is common which belongs to 10 'Kumi' 組 and Kumi is divided into 15 parts, what is called one holding unit 一地 with the average dimensions of about 0.2 ha. Before the Second World War, one holding unit is distributed to each man, from sixteen to sixty years old; but after the War to each family (though one half holding unit 一地半 or two holding units 二地 to a large family). Fields, belonging to each Kumi, are dispersed over the whole island, denoting the average dispersing rate of 19.4 plots, and each plot is divided into fifteen equal parts. So fields are of very small "Streifenflur", where sweet potatoes in summer and wheat in winter are raised by women's work only and fishery belongs to men's labor.
