<論説>産業革命期における北部フランスの繊維工業

Abstract

フランス革命が最も徹底的な市民的変革であつたにも拘らず、その後のフランス資本主義の発展が必ずしも順調でなかつたのはいかなる理由によるのであろうか。これは既に多くの先学によつて論じられながら、なお十分に解明されていない間題である。本稿はこの問題をフランス産業革命史の側から検討する。考察の範囲を北部フランス、リール地方の繊維工業に限定したのち、まずこの部門の工場制への移行の画期と形態を分析し、繊維産業資本の確立過程の諸特質-即ち、産業資本の発展のテンポの緩慢さ、発展の規模の狭小さ、商人資本の主導的役割-を具体的に明らかにする。次いで、これらの諸特質がどのような客観的諸条件によつて規定されていたかを、繊維工業の資本蓄積の様式、生産手段の供給、労働力の存在形態、市場構造の四つの側面から考察するが、それはフランス産業資本の独自な発展構造に対して若干の光を投じるものとなるはずである。

Though the French Revolution was the most perfect bourgeois revolution, why didn't the subsequent development of the French capitalism go on smoothly? This is the problem which is long treated by many students and is not completely solved. This article considers this problem through the history of the French industrial revolution. After the limit of our consideration was confined to the textile industry of Lille district in northern France, at first we analyse transition epochs and forms of this section to the factory system and explain concretely the characteristics of forming process of the industrial capital in textile industry -- that is, slow tempo of the development of industrial capital, narrow scale of its development, and leading part of merchant's capital. Then, we consider by what objective conditions these characteristics were regulated, through the four aspects of way of capital accumulation in the textile industry, supply of means of production, form of existence in labour power, and market organization, which is to throw some light on the peculiar developing structure of the French industrial capital.
