<論説>武梁祠堂復元の再検討

Abstract

漢代画像石のうちで武氏祠画像石群は古来最も著名である。だが、従来の研究は主として画像の主題にむけられ、黄易による新祠堂中にバラバラに保存されている諸石を組立ててもとの祠堂に復元する試みは始まったばかりといっていい過ぎではない。従来の研究のうち最も秀れたものはフェアバンク夫人による論考であるが、ここに取上げる武梁祠堂に限っても精しく検討するとその復元に従がい難い点がある。第一に今手に入る拓本は決して石の全形を示すものではない。文様帯や何も彫られていない所まで含めてこそ始めて真の復元になる。奥壁を両側石で挟むフェアバンク夫人の復元を改めて奥壁前面に側石を置いたのはこの観点による。第二に新中国の精密な孝堂山石祠の再調査によって神台石の存在が明確になり武梁詞にもそれを加えた。第三に早稲田大学図書館蔵拓本の発見によって天井石の細部の構造が明らかとなり「石索」にいう "有^二方孔ニ^一" の方孔が枘穴であることを確定した。これによってフェアバンク夫人の復元図にある中央の石柱は誤りで、前面吹放しの構造であることが確められた。

Among the stone reliefs in Han 漢, the stone reliefs of Wu 武 family 武氏祠画像石群 were the most famous ones from ancient times, but the former investigation has been concentrated on their subjects; it is not too much to say that restoration of the offering shrine, or Tz'u-T'ang 祠堂 by constructing the stones preserved by Huang-I 黄易 in the new offering-shrine has just started, the most excellent of which is Mrs. Fairbank's. To consider carefully Wu-Liang-Tz'u 武梁祠堂 only, there were some aspects unable to be restored; at first, rubbings now in hand never show the whole shape, without figure belt and space carved nothing. Mrs. Fairbank's restoration by putting rear wall stones is corrected by putting side wall stones before rear wall stone. In the second place, by New China's careful reinvestigation of Hsiao-t'ang-shan-tz'-u-t'ang 孝堂山石祠, the existence of stoneplinth was proved and also it was added to Wu-Liang-Tz'u 武梁祠堂. In the third place, the structure of ceiling-stone was shown by descovery of the rubbings in the Library of Waseda University, proved that the square holes according to "having two square holes" 有2方孔二1, in "Shih-so" 石索 were draw-holes; thanks to this discovery, the central stone pillar in the Mrs. Fairbank's restoration figure is a mistake and it is proved to be the front-blow-off structure.
